Warm greetings and a hearty welcome to you on your journey towards achieving your dreams in the field of medicine!
Purpose
NEET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and serves as the single entrance test for admission to undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), and AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) courses in government and private medical colleges across India.
Eligibility To be eligible for NEET, candidates must be Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI). They should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31st December of the year of admission. The maximum age limit for NEET is usually 25 years for general candidates and 30 years for reserved category candidates.
Exam Pattern NEET is a pen-and-paper-based test consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The exam covers subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. As of my last update in September 2021, the exam had 180 questions, with 45 questions from each subject. Each correct answer awards 4 marks, while each incorrect answer results in a deduction of 1 mark.
Result and Counseling Once the NEET exam is conducted, NTA releases the results, and candidates can check their scores on the official website. Based on the ranks obtained, eligible candidates can participate in counseling processes conducted by various state authorities for seat allocation in medical colleges.
